Will you fix my meta tags?
We get lots of emails from companies offering to fix our meta tags. I usually ignore them, but occasionally I email them back asking if they will guarantee my site will get to page one of Google as a result? Most refuse any sort of guarantee, some say YES! but when I offer to pay them after their work is proven to have achieved such a result…. well… the answer has always been no.
Why? Lets have a look at the two meta tags which have historically been used by search engines:-
meta KEYWORDS
All search engines have released statements saying they now ignore meta keywords, they were a bad idea, and are now redundant. At the SEO Guys…. we don't use meta keywords as a search engine marketing tool, they just don't work.
meta DESCRIPTION
Google has gone on the records stating they do not use meta DESCRIPTION tags in their algorithm. They DO recommend you complete them and they are sometimes used in describing your site, but they are not used to help gain your site rankings on Google, or other search engines. So we do them, but for the sake of your site visitors, not for search engines.
So paying a company to do your website's meta tags…. you may as well just throw the money away, it will do as much good.
At the SEO Guys, we don't ask our clients to pay for us to do this work, or that work. The fact is…. we could work and work and charge and charge…. many other SEO companies do this.
Instead, we only charge for results. Not work, not fixing meta tags, not fixing this or doing that.
We get paid, if we achieve for you what we promised we would.
